Council Member Macey worked in the United States Steel Works in Duquesne for nearly 15 years after graduating high school in the late 1960s. Active through his union to the plight of area families as many local mills closed in the early 1980s, he helped distribute food packages and establish with various social service and government organizations vocational retraining and community revitalization projects. His volunteer efforts to assist those who wish to better themselves and their communities continue today.
After the Duquesne mill closed, Bob helped develop himself for a new career by attending classes at Pennsylvania State University and the Community College of Allegheny County.
